It is an appalling story that tells us about a mysterious eye-hunter – the narrator. He hunts an old man who has like a vulture – a pale blue eye, only to please his sense of hatred.
[Sick Man]: – The narrator is full of fears, prejudices, misconceptions, butchery, and foolish nurse – a sick mind madden to crime. His crime swells the whole atmosphere with suspense, horror, and mystery.
[Killing] After the clever and careful struggle of eight nights in the darkroom, the narrator became able to see the ugly eye. It chilled the very marrow of his bones. He jumped with a yell on the victim’s dull eye and heartbeat. The old man died with a single shriek. He butchered his skull, the feet, and the palms of his hands. Then he disposed of all the parts under the planks of the floor.
[Police] Someone informed the police, the police came to study the narrator but the narrator showed a strong head. He said that the Shriek was his own, an old man was out of the country and they could search well.
Fear has many cats and can hear things underground. A dull heartbeat of the dead man began to bell in his senses which made him a laughing stock among the policemen. So in this agony “murder” shrieked out from his throat. He claims that he is sane and justified in his act but he is not.
Thus, it is plain and patent that.
